vitalijs brejevs

There are different ways to pronounce my name, but I prefer `vee-TAH-lee BREH-yev'

I was a postdoc at the University of Vienna in the group of Vera Vértesi until October 2024. I am currently looking for both academic and non-academic positions.

I got my PhD from the University of Glasgow, supervised by Brendan Owens and Andy Wand and supported by the Carnegie Trust. Before that, I completed my master's studies (Part III) in Cambridge. I think about such topics in low-dimensional topology as the slice–ribbon conjecture, surface mapping class groups, and symmetric unions of knots.

You can find my academic CV here and a more industry-focussed CV here. The best way to contact me is by email at brejka@gmail.com.

Outside of mathematics I run and play quiz.
